Making this ring was quite an adventure!  I have never had to individually fracture, shape, and adhere material to make a continuous inlay before.  This mammoth ivory was unearthed in Texas, where mammoths resided between 10,000 and 1 million years ago.  Unlike other mammoth ivory I have used, this material is much closer to stone than horn.  This means it is much too friable to form a continuous ring.  I decided to inlay it into my own matrix mixture- a super fine black stone from Sri Lanka and epoxy resin.

The metal is Tungsten Carbide. Not all Tungsten Carbide rings are the same! Tungsten and Carbon are elements that would naturally be a powder. They are combined at very high temperatures with binders to make an incredibly dense, nearly indestructible metal. The choice and quality of these extra elements are what sets this top quality, American made ring apart from its mass-produced-in-China counterparts. While it is possible to shatter a WedgeWood Tungsten Ring, it is not easy.

Because Tungsten Carbide exhibits unparalleled scratch resistance, it is the most durable possible choice for a ring. Unless you routinely encounter industrial diamond abrasives, your ring will never scratch. It is 10x harder than gold and 5x harder than steel. It will also not bend or deform in any way. It has a significant heft, nearly the weight of solid pure gold.

Sizing

I highly recommend going to a jewelry counter to determine your size, even if you already know your size. "Do it yourself" ring sizing methods (string, etc.) should absolutely not be trusted. Be sure to be measured using the width you plan to order.

NOTE ON WIDTH:

This design is available in 8mm and 6mm width only.

Each ring is given multiple coats of a hybrid epoxy finish, which is completely water-proof and soap proof. This protective coating is sanded up to 12,000 grit for an unbelievable, glass-like finish.
